Access your Control Panel

To setup Outlook:

1. Close Microsoft Outlook.

2. Download and run the pre-setup software:
http://my.myoutlookonline.com/downloads/olsetupv3.exe

3. Click Setup.

4. The Outlook Setup tool will select the setting which is most appropriate for your client. Please do not change this unless you are advised to do so by your administrator or support personnel.

5. You will see the following information box:

Click OK.

6. The login window will come up and prompt you to login. Enter your full email address and password:

8. Click OK.

9. Click Finish.
NOTE: This window may be hidden behind the Outlook window.

10. Outlook will open automatically. If you have multiple profiles you will be prompted to select a profile. The profile name will be in the following format: “Exchange Hosting ”. Select the profile and click OK.

11. You will be asked to login again, please do so.

12. If the Setup Tool encounters a problem while creating your Exchange profile a window will come up with the error message “Your Microsoft Exchange Server is Unavailable.”; please click Retry.

13. You are now ready to use Outlook. Each time you start Outlook you will be prompted to log on with your username and password.

Manual Instructions

To setup Outlook:

1. Close Outlook.

2. Download and run the pre-setup software http://my.myoutlookonline.com/downloads/olsetupv3.exe Select ““Update host file setting and Outlook plug-in only”.

3. Go to Start > Control Panel > Mail. If you do not have this icon, click on “Classic View” on the top left and the Mail icon will now appear in the list.

4. Click E-mail Accounts > Add a new e-mail account > Next.

5. Select Microsoft Exchange Server; click Next.

6. Exchange Server Settings:

  • Microsoft Exchange Server: [Exchange Server Name] (e.g. “MAIL001” or “BE001”. Do not add “.mail.lan”)
  • Check “Use Cached Exchange Mode”.
  • User Name: [your e-mail address] (e.g. “YourName@YourDomain.com”)
  • Click More Settings.
  • After 30-90 seconds, it may time out and you may get a message similar to this: Outlook could not log on. OR The action could not be completed. The connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action. This is an expected message. Click OK. If a new window will open, which asks for “Microsoft Exchange Server” and “Mailbox”. Click Cancel.

8. Microsoft Exchange Server: A new window will open, which has 5 tabs starting with “General”

  • Click the Advanced tab.
  • Check “Use Cached Exchange Mode”.
  • Check “Download Public Folder Favorites”.
  • Click Apply.
  • Click the Connection tab.
  • Check “Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP”.
  • Click Exchange Proxy Settings.

9. Exchange Proxy Settings:

  • rpc.MyOutlookOnline.com
  • Check “Connect using SSL only”
  • Check “Mutually authenticate the session when connection with SSL”
  • Enter msstd:rpc.MyOutlookOnline.com as the Principal name for proxy server.
  • Check “On fast networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP”
  • Check “On slow networks, connect using HTTP first, then connect using TCP/IP”
  • Select “Basic Authentication” from the drop-down menu.
  • Click OK.
  • Click OK.

10. E-Mail Accounts: Exchange Server Settings:

  • Click on Check Name – this may take 30-90 seconds

11. Connect to [Exchange Server Name] window pops up:

  • User name: [your e-mail address] (e.g. “YourName@YourDomain.com”)
  • Password: [your password]
  • The server name and user name should now be underlined. If not, check that you have internet connectivity
  • Click Next. You will get the “Connect to mailXXX” window again – use the same info as above.

12. If you had already setup Outlook to receive mail using a Personal Folder on your laptop, the system will warn you that mail from Exchange Server will be delivered to the Personal Folder and ask if you want to continue. Click Yes.

13. Click Finish.

14. Click E-mail accounts.

15. Select “View or change existing e-mail accounts”; click Next.

16. At the bottom of the window, you will see “Deliver new e-mail to the following location”. Make sure that this is set to Mailbox – Name. Do not set it to be Personal Folder, or your mail will be removed from the server and it will only be kept on your computer.

17. Click Finish.

18. Click OK.

19. Every time you start Outlook, you will be prompted to logon with your username & password.
